Annanetta stands out as one of the most important vessel stories we can present to members: a wartime Department vessel with service-era significance, post-war survival, and a living restoration narrative.

The vessel’s documented history places her in the practical world of wartime utility craft that underpinned operations and support work, rather than headline capital ships. That is exactly the class of vessel most often at risk of being overlooked, altered beyond recognition, or lost before her full record is captured.

For the Wartime Maritime Memorial Association, that makes Annanetta strategically important. Our purpose is not only to remember wartime maritime history in broad terms, but to protect specific hulls, stories, and service records that show how the conflict was actually sustained on the water by working boats and their crews.

Recognising Annanetta reinforces three core priorities: preserving service provenance, supporting practical conservation pathways, and keeping these vessels visible to the public as educational assets.
